EXPERIENCE:
Randy has a total of 14 years real estate experience at Savannah Lakes Village, including 3 years as a Broker. He went to work for Cooper Communities within months of their initial marketing of SLV and was with them through each phase of development. The Developer sold out (of property) in December 2000, and Randy went into the resale market with Cooper Homes/Cooper Realty. There he continued to successfully sell Savannah Lakes Village.
WORK BACKGROUND:
Randy has 27 years of sales experience, including 17 years in resort sales. He traveled extensively around the country during his post college years, but knew he found the part of the country in wanted to put down roots when he first came to the Savannah/Augusta area.
Janis spent 20+ years in the banking industry in Greenwood, SC. In December 1996 she was appointed Branch Manager of the American Federal Bank located in Savannah Lakes Village (now a First Citizens Bank) where she first met Randy, one of the salesmen for Cooper Development at Savannah Lakes Village. (Randy says he closed the best sale of his life when they were married in December 1997.)
In 1998 (after surviving 5 bank mergers) Janis left banking to allow more time for family and volunteer pursuits. She served three years as Benefits Administrator for the local school district and one year as secretary of McCormick First Baptist Church prior to coming on full time with Village Real Estate.
BACKGROUND/STRENGTHS:
Randy was living in Augusta when he was introduced to Savannah Lakes Village in 1989--before there were any utilities, paved roads, or other amenities. He recognized the value immediately and purchased property. Four months later he had obtained a SC real estate license and was sharing his dream with folks from all over the US, many of whom are now his neighbors. In 1992 he built a home (permit #49) in Savannah Lakes, and became (at that time) the youngest resident in the Village. He has watched each phase of SLV as it grew from dirt roads and a dream to the spectacular waterfront community that it is today.
Janis's background in consumer finance, including mortgage lending, gave her much experience in dealing with realtors, attorneys, appraisers, and such. She also spent one year working as Office Manager for an architectural firm, which broadened her knowledge in the process of home construction, and working with builders and vendors. This experience coupled with a background in accounting and marketing led to an easy transition for running a real estate office.
DESIGNATIONS, EDUCATION:
Randy received Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communications from Central Missouri State*, Warrensburg, MO in 1976 (*Home of the fighting mules!)
Janis has a General Banking Degree from the American Institute of Banking.
PERSONAL / FAMILY / CHURCH, CIVIC, COMMUNITY INTERESTS:
Randy's immediate family all live within 50 miles of the family farm in southern Missouri. All of Janis' family lives in the Greenwood area where she grew up.
Randy and Janis each have a son from previous marriages. Matt is a rising sophomore at Georgia College and State University and has plans to be an attorney. Scott and his wife, Katie, along with 4 year old Rhett, live in Greenwood, SC where they are owners and operators of Scott's Landscaping and Landscape Supply of Greenwood.
Randy and Janis are active members of McCormick First Baptist Church. Janis teaches Sunday School in the preschool department. both volunteer in the church's Nursery Dept., as well as, participating in other ministry areas, such as the annual Block Party sponsored by MFBC.
They are also licensed foster parents, and devote volunteer time working with youth and children in the community. They also promote McCormick County with participation in the McCormick County Chamber of Commerce, Gold Rush Festival, and SC Dairy Festival.
Both of them enjoy living and playing on Lake Thurmond, squeezing in a golf game as often as possible, dancing (square, round, and ballroom) and spending time with family. Randy, an all around sports fanatic, is an avid Braves fan, and enjoys "the first half of a good movie." Janis loves good books, old movies, and home redecorating; especially trying ideas she has learned from watching HGTV. Of course, her favorite duty now is being a grandmother.
RANDY AND JANIS' MOTIVATORS:
Since participating in a 40 Days of Purpose study last year, both have placed an emphasis in finding and following God's purpose for their lives.
Randy says that "selling" motivates him, as he sees it as a way of improving people's quality of living. Janis finds his enthusiasm contagious.
UNIQUE BUT LITTLE KNOWN FACTS ABOUT RANDY AND JANIS
Randy - He can juggle. J He is also the resident "horseshoe champion" of SLV, winning two years in a row. (Must be the farm boy still in him.)
Janis fell in love with the town and people of McCormick immediately after taking the Branch Manager's position at American Federal. She was commuting daily from Greenwood, but decided she would move to McCormick once her son finished high school. She doesn't mind telling you that she fell in love with McCormick before she fell in love with Randy. (But of course, both know that God placed them exactly where he wanted them so that they would find each other.)

What better job than making a living by meeting interest people from all over the US, showing them around our neighborhood, and providing with them the opportunity to share in the wonderful lifestyle that we enjoy every day! (And get paid to do it!)
When Cooper Homes & Cooper Realty announced that they would be closing their McCormick office in the fall of 2003, we considered a move to another Cooper Community. But after prayerful consideration, we knew that we could not imagine living anywhere but Savannah Lakes Village. Hence, the decision to open Village Real Estate was an easy one, and we continue to sell what we know, what we live and love - Savannah Lakes Village!
